It has the oldest area of population concentration (it is now a flourishing commercial district of truck stops, restaurants, and convenience stores just off Interstate 81). It was the only village of the township, containing a post office and a few stores and shops to supply the surrounding neighborhood. Traveling peddlers provided incidental needs before the establishment of the country store.
